BARGE SPOTTINGS - River Trent: Burton Joyce and Stoke Bardolph 1969 to ~1974Please help fill in any gaps in the names and numbers or correct any errors.
The lists on this page were recorded by me when I first got seriously interested in the waterways and, although the names are accurate, the lack of further information (eg dates, cargoes etc) is regrettable. These days I would hope to do better - and have lots of photos - but there are a few snippets of cine film to follow when I get it digitised...
Because my notes are somewhat scrappy, although the names are valid, I may have entered some of them in the wrong groups. I would grateful for any errors pointed out.

EASEDALE - this I am fairly sure was an ex-Harkers tanker converted to dry cargo and was a rather formidable red colour?

Right up until the early 1970s, BW ran their own fleet of barges on the trent, carrying all manner of goods. Most this was destined for Meadow Lane or Trent Lane depots near Trent Bridge in Nottingham.

SEAGULL - and her sister vessels created a larger than average wash en route to the fuel depot at Colwick, Nottingham - much to the awe of myself as a canoeist at the time!

These were all regulars at the time - running up to the fuel depots at Colwick - and continued until a bargeman's strike. This was objecting to a reduction in pay but resulted in the traffic being transferred to rail and later (I believe) a pipeline.
